Testing laboratories Brno have organized a new workshop „Requirements on the ENplus certification of wood pellets“

The workshop which took place on 21 May, 2014 has picked up on the last successful workshop which covered the same topic and was designed for manufacturers, resellers and distributors.

The ENplus certification for wood pellets is a system which should secure the supply of wood pellets with clearly defined and consistent quality for heating purposes and cogeneration units with an output up to 1 MW in residential, commercial and public facilities.  The applicant who complies with all requirements is entitled to use ENplus-A1, Enplus-A2 trademarks, which are required for deliveries of wood pellets to the European countries, especially to Austria, Germany and Italy. Currently, new dates of workshops in the Czech Republic and Slovakia are being scheduled. The planned ISO 9001 update underway

The Technical Committee ISO/TC 176 has been undertaking a process for updating the ISO 9001:2008 standard over the last two years. A Committee Draft – Draft International Standard (ISO DIS 9001) has been published on 13 May, 2014. According to the planned schedule, the next step, i.e. the Final Draft International Standard should be published at the beginning of 2015. The certification in accordance with a new standard will be launched after the publication of the International Standard, i.e. during the 2nd – 3rd quarter of 2015 (the target date for its publication is September). The transition period is expected to be around three years – the transition to the new standard will be completed as part of the certification or recertification audit.

You can find a summary of expected changes, including changes in its structure to facilitate the easier harmonisation with other quality management standards, a bigger emphasis on customer satisfaction, a market orientation, a wider specification of requirements for service providers and an integrated approach to the company management, at this link here. A two-day conference on Cyber Security – Results and Challenges was organized on May 13, 2014 in Brno on the occasion of the opening of the National Cyber Security Centre (Národní centrum kybernetické bezpečnosti – NCKB). Among the main topics of the conference was also the information security as a part of key management processes, increase of corporate network attacks, leakage of personal data resulting in a formation of rival companies, potential cyber threats, the importance of creation of resistant networks and systems and large-scale data analyses. The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Mr. Bohuslav Sobotka, the director of the National Security Authority Mr. Dušan Navrátil, a NATO Deputy Secretary-General for New Security Challenges Mr. Sorin Ducaru and the Director of the European Union Agency for Network and Information Security Mr. Udo Helmbrecht were present at the opening ceremony of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCKB).

The enhancement of the safety security belongs to the priorities also in the Czech Republic, which is approved by the opening of the National Cyber Security Centre, which should strengthen the level of the cyber security in Europe. It also follows the path to adoption of the Act on Cyber Security and the implementation of the obligation to certify the information security system in accordance with ISO 27001 for selected companies and institutions. The act was proposed by the National Security Authority (NBÚ) of the Czech Republic (a guarantor of the cyber security in the Czech Republic). Once approved by the Parliament of the Czech Republic, the Act becomes effective as of January 1, 2015.

We will keep you updated and informed about further particular steps regarding the adoption of the above-mentioned act in the next Newsletter issues. You can also address your inquiries to Mr. Jiří Purm.
